"...that beast

astray

that finds neither home nor joy nor nourishment

in a world that is strange and incomprehensible to him.”

-Hermann Hesse

Synthetic Insolence

eke out that soft spot, watch from a careful distance, plot the remains of your existence.

Retreat, retreat to keep yourself safe. You feel the fingers at your throat and for the rest of your days you run andyourunandyourunand

you can't recover your life.

Wolves. The ambiguous features of the dog/wolf are intentional. In america and canada at least, we have fluctuated between all-out destruction of wolves, to then protecting them, back to killing them. We are all probably familiar with Palin's wolf paw campaign? She gives cash to people who bring her wolves' paws, revels in their death. Worthless Cunt. At any rate, wolves were one of our first (as developing beings) allies in nature. We found in them understanding, protection, camaraderie.

So much did we value this, that we coveted them, bred those with the most winning traits together, developed all dogs as we now know them. And as we rose among the ranks as inhabitors of this planet, so did our need for landmass.

So we pushed aside the homes of the wolves, birds, snakes, etc., etc.; the trees and forests and fields, and built. We built for us, for people, our needs were most important. In our haste to provide for us, we forgot about our allies, our roots. And when they came out the woods, hungry, desperate, we blamed them. Labeled them as destroyers, and hung them out to dry.

We are a shameful breed.

and in the bizarre string of coincidences that make up my life, Care2 posted a petition to stop the killing of wolves in MN (my home state) just hours ago. Please Sign:
